I work in the retail cosmetics industry, I just gave my resignation, can my former employer prevent me from working with another cosmetics company within the same store?

It depends on your non-compete agreement or clause in your employment agreement. In the absence of such an agreement, you are free to work where you please. And even with an agreement, it must be reasonable as to its scope and limitations.
