Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Division of property in divorce

My family gave myself and my spouse a part of the family farm before we were married. Bothe of our names are on it. This would have been my property regardless of marriage or not. How do I keep from having to have this property sold in the divorce? I work pt and go to school pt. At this time I cannot get a loan to buy him out.

Please help me. This property is where my father grew up. My children will inherit this property when I am gone. I need to show legal references in favor of why this property should not be included in the division. I am to be receiving child support and have not. The home that I live in is being appraised as well. If I lose the house I live in I think I can deal with it, but not the family property.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Re: Division of property in divorce

There may be a way to prove that the house is not a marital asset even though it was gifted to your husband as well as you. It will take providing the proper evidence and perhaps negotiating with your husband. Do you have an attorney helping you with your divorce? I advise you to have one.
