Legal Question in Consumer Law in Pennsylvania

Merchandise Return Policies

A salesman told me I was buying a flush-mount ceiling fan. When it was installed we realized it was not a flush-mount.

When I tried to return it, 5 days after purchasing it (in it's original box, never used)a salesman told me it could not be returned b/c the wires had been shortened for installation. He did refund my credit card for the returned fan blades, fittings & light - but will not refund me the $300. for the motor. There is no return policy on the receipt or posted in the store. Can I get my money back?

Re: Merchandise Return Policies

Lodge a dispute with your credit card company. They will be forced to investigate. Document how the item was not what you paid for Flush mount v. Non-flush mount. If they still honor the charge then you have a case for district court which hears claims upto $8,000. I offer free consultations.
