Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Judgment ''Satisfied''

Just paid off school debt; requested lawyer to send notice of ''debt satisfaction'' to court. The order t statisfy the judgment read: ''To the Protonotary: Kindly mark the Money Judgment in the above matter as satisfied upon payment of your costs only.'' What does this statement mean. Do I owe additional money, to the Prothonotary, in order to be completely cleared of all and any monies owed? Will I be billed by the court for the costs of proceedings by the Prothonotary?

Thank you.

Re: Judgment ''Satisfied''

That is standard language. You should not have to pay any additional court costs. Ask the attorney for a time-stamped copy (one with the Prothonotary's filing stamp on it) of the Order to confirm that it was filed with the court.
