Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

Removing x wife from deed

I was divorced 1986 the agreement specified that I sell our jointly owned property but I was granted custody of our child.Having no other reasonable option to provide a home for my child I remained in the home. I've paid off the mortgage and would now like to have my ex's name removed from the deed. I've made 20k improvements and am also owed 13k back child support. The home is worth about 79k. My x has a power of atty. in her parents and they are unreasonable. I'd like to know what my options are in proceeding and an approximate cost to me.

Thank you

Re: Removing x wife from deed

The exact wording of the divorce order may give you the power to sell the home without her signature. If not you may have to file a partition action and other claims such as the improvements you made. I suggest speaking with an attorney to discuss your situation in detail. I offer free consultations.
