Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

joint child custody

My ex-husband says that he can say what people our kids can go around and that it is called the Brown Law. I think that he is full of bull but I want to have proof before I tell him that he is lying.

Re: joint child custody

Unless your divorce decree specifically gives him that power (which would be VERY unusual), then he cannot dictate that to you any more than you can dictate that to him.

He may be referring to Judge Brown's Parental Guidelines, but they only refer to things such as keeping the children in a safe, moral, proper environment, etc.

I think that he is merely trying to intimidate you, and you should not let him do so. If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
