Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I just adopted a newborn baby with my wife. However, I am paying child support to my ex-wife for my 14 year old son. Would I be entitled to a child support modification and have the child support payments lowered?

Probably, yes. If your child support payment is based on 20% of your monthly net resources, then with the new baby, it should be based on 17.5% of your monthly net resources. If the change in the percentage would change the amount of support by 20% or $100, then the court will likely modify your support.

You can get this done for free through the AG's office.

Congratulations and good luck!!
