Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Second Lien on Primary Residence

My dad needs money to renew a note for a 1.7m house he is building. He has no money, and our house is currently on the market because my parents are getting a divorce. Texas has the homestead exemption which protects our home. Will my dad getting a second lien on the house somehow connect our house to his house building, and possible put our house at risk of foreclosure if he is unable to sell his house? Thank you!
