Legal Question in Consumer Law in Alabama

Creditors Calling Your Place of Business

One of my creditors was calling me at my work. I had informed them that I cannot get these calls at work and to call me at home. The creditor said that they would note this in my file. However, they are still calling me at my place of business. Can they do this?

No, this is a violation of law and is actionable. You are likley entitled to damages and attorneys fees. Please feel free to call to discuss this further if you wish to take action. In any case you should contact an attorney to discuss.

Both calling you at work and calling you anywhere when you have asked not to be called are actionable violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I have a standard letter that I use for clients in such matters. If I can be of help, call or email.
