Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

I was involved in a car accident when I was rear ended by another vehicle. Both of us have the same insurance company. I have submitted all of my documentation showing loss income, loss of future income, medical bills, etc. totalling over $30,000 (paystubs alone show $8k of loss wages) and my insurance company is only settling for $500. They say this is their final offer and the only option is to retain an attorney. This doesn't sound fair. I've asked them to escalate it and they won't. What are my rights and options?

This really is an example of a case crying out for an attorney. It's very possible that the insurance company is treating you this way ONLY because you are unrepresented, and therefore they are not afraid of being sued. We take cases all over the state of California and I would be glad to go over the details of your situation--no obligation of course. Give me a call at (877) LION FOR LAW (546-6367) or email [email protected]

The fact of the matter is that without an attorney, you really have absolutely no leverage, and the insurance company has little or no incentive to offer you more money. With that said, $500 seems awfully low considering your damages, and would warrant a complaint to the DOI. You should retain an attorney.
