Legal Question in Business Law in California

If you own a Retail Cabinet business in California, do you need a contractors license to be able to legally collect money from a customer and hire an installer to perform the work, or does my retail sellers permit exclude me from needing to posses a contractors license to legally perform the installation?

You not only would need a contractors license, if the installer is a contractor rather than an employee, you would need a general contractors license rather than just a finish carpentry specialty license. If you do installation without a proper license the customer can refuse to pay you for the work OR the cabinets, and can sue you for any payments made too.
