Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Do bouncers working at a bar establishment have the right to handcuff and choke a patron around their neck? The patron now had numbness in his fingers due to this mistreatment. Does the patron have an legal rights in this incident to press charges against the bouncers?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Seek all necessary medical attention. The patron can theoretically sue the bouncer, and the bar, but bar-fight cases are hard to win, and no lawyer takes them without getting paid up front. Watch out for legal time limits.

Unless they are off duty police officers, they have no police powers, and would be liable for any such 'assault and battery'. You could file criminal charges with the police and sue them and the establishment. You have to prove what you allege through something other that 'your word'. If you think you can, feel free to contact me.
