Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Buying a shootgun

I wanted to get my Husband a shot gun for christmas, and it's turning in to an ordel. Now the Yolo County DA wants us to come in to discuss your appication. Can they do this? We live in Solano county. Yet my Husband wanted to buy it close to his work which is in Davis. I feel they have no legal right to do this, why do they want him to come on down?

Re: Buying a shootgun

You may NOT buy a gun for anyone else; you'd commit state and federal felonies to do so. If he wants to buy it, and IF he is not a 'prohibited person' barred from buying or owning firearms because of his record, then he has to buy it himself, fill out all the required paperwork, and undergo the required FBI criminal background check and approval. You could give him the money to pay for it. The DA may want him 'to come on down' to arrest him for committing or attempting to commit a felony. I suggest you consult with local criminal counsel experienced in firearms law violations. I'd help you if you were local, it's one of my specialties.
