Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

petty theft 484 a

I was stopped by two lp men outside of Macys as I was entering the mall. I cooperated and was detained for two hours. They would not show me the video tape nor let me read the report. Is this legal? When the officer arrived he exposed private information from my record in front of everyone in the loss prevention office. Isn't this a violation of my privacy? Can he do that? Lastly I was takin out of the store and placed in the cop car for further questioning. The officer however did not read me my rights until after the questioning. Isn't that unethical behavior by the officer as well? And lastly I was caught stealing from Robinsons May when I was a minor and it came up in Macy's system and was put into the report by the security officer, so I was told. Well this effect my case? What should I ask for? I would utimately like to avoid jail and probation if possible, and eventually have this expunged. What do I do?

"What do I do?? Unless you know how to effectively evaluate the law and evidence rules applicable to your case, and can effectively represent yourself in court against a prosecutor trying to put you in jail, most people hire an attorney. He can use whatever facts and evidence you may have in negotiating a deal acceptable to you, or in bringing appropriate suppression or dismissal motions, hearings, or conducting trial. If this is in SoCal, and you're serious about getting the legal help you need, feel free to contact me.

If you insist on "cooperating," then you are too dumb to be a successful thief. You can get vocational training in jail on how to be a better thief, or you can retain a lawyer and possibly salvage what's left of your life. Your choice.
