Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

police entry

I had 4 police officers knock on my door and demand entry last night, asking me

if I had any weapons due to a disraught phone conversation I had w/ a former

husband. I had said to him that I was very upset and felt suicidal. He called the

police who made my already horrendous night, worse. They threatened to take

me by force out my house and the only way I got rid of them was to deny any

conversation that suggested suicide. I was upset- not going thru w/ suicide,

but they said that whatever my ex-husband said, they would base their actions

on.

Question- Do I have to let them inside my house or can I deny entry?

I am so sorry that LawGuru waited two days to post this message. No, you do not have to open the door to the police unless they have a warrant. Make them kick the door down.
