Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

drug arrest

i got charged for posesion of a controled substance and recieved a 24 month sentance in prison and already did my time. Now the guy i got arested with got a posesion also and is looking at a third strike. My question is if i said the dope was mine and not his can i get another charge or can anything hapen to me legally?

If you've already been convicted on that arrest, then they can't charge you again for the same offense if you say it was yours. I assume you denied all knowledge at your trial. It probably won't do him any good for you to do this, unless the jury believes you as a witness at his trial. I doubt the DA is going to back off just because you say this. It's worth a try, if you're willing to admit the truth now. Don't commit and get caught in perjury.
