Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Exonerated Bail in California

My husband was arrested in California and bail was set at $25,000. We paid a bond (to a bail bond company) of $2,500. We recently found out the the court has exonerated the bail. The bond company told me they will not be returning the money. Do I stand a chance?

Re: Exonerated Bail in California

No. The $2500.00 is the premium you paid the bonding company to post bond in the first place to get your husband out. It will not be returned. It is how they make their money.

Nope. The $2,500 was the premium for the bond, and you got what you paid for. Bondsmen couldn't make a living if they had to repay their fees once bail had been exonerated.

Simply put and unfortunately - no. That is how bondsmen make their money.
