Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

miss court date

While visiting California in 2001. I received a ticket for possession of alochol (beer). I was under 21 and was not drinking. My friends and I were at a club. I was holding the beer for him when he went to the bathroom, when the officers walked over. The viloations: 25662 (a) BSP. I fled back to NJ and called the municipal court but got an answering machine. I left them a message that I need to changed the court date. They never called me back? What should I do now?

Re: missed court date

You should hire a California attorney to represent you here in California. As this is a misdemeanor, an attorney can appear for you, without you having to ever come to court. Hiring an attorney means that all of the defenses available to you, including failure to timely prosecute you, would be utilized to your best advantage. If you would like to discuss your particular issues and relevant defenses, feel free to call for a free phone consultation at (800)515-0233, or email me directly for more info. Otherwise, best of luck to you.

Re: miss court date

Hire an attorney to make an appearance for you, to try to get the court to withdraw the arrest warrant that was issued and convince the court not to impose jail time on the Failure to Appear. You should end up with stiff fine, and no jail time. Call if the court is in Southern California, if you want to discuss the cost of doing this.
