Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

miss court date

While visiting California in 2001. I received a ticket for possession of alochol (beer). I was under 21 and was not drinking. My friends and I were at a club. I was holding the beer for him when he went to the bathroom, when the officers walked over. The viloations: 25662 (a) BSP. I fled back to NJ and called the municipal court but got an answering machine. I left them a message that I need to changed the court date. They never called me back? What should I do now?

Hire an attorney to make an appearance for you, to try to get the court to withdraw the arrest warrant that was issued and convince the court not to impose jail time on the Failure to Appear. You should end up with stiff fine, and no jail time. Call if the court is in Southern California, if you want to discuss the cost of doing this.
