Child Endangerment w DUI

My ex husband got pulled over drunk and taken to jail with my son in the car. The police added child endangerment - we shared 50 50 custody... He's not a bad guy, just had a drinking problem. he's active in his sons life, but deserves to get these charges. What will happen with the california law and courts.. what can I do or where can i go to get more info... Please help. Thank you.

You should take steps to reduce contact between your son and his father. That does not mean that he cannot be active part of your son's life, but his contact should be limited to prevent another instance of his driving under the influence with your son in the car. Father must get help with his drinking problem. That help can either be through AA or a live in program. However, he should also receive ongoing support through AA or some other program to maintain a sober life style. If you do not take some affirmative steps now to protect your son, CPS may arrive on the scene and take draconian measures to protect your son.
