Legal Question in Elder Law in California

Power of Attorney

My grandfather is in the late stages of alzheimers and cannot write or make decisions anymore. My grandmother and aunt handle finances, but there was never a power of attorney created for him regarding his finances. My grandma and aunt are trying to purchase a home and they won't qualify unless they use my grandfather income. What do they have to do to get a power of attorney for his finances so they can use him as a borrower on the loan??

Re: Power of Attorney

That's not going to happen. He is incompetent and will not be able to grant anything. They could get Conservatorship over him, but that doesn't gain them 'credit' because his income will never be in their name or for their use. Talk to lenders to see what they suggest. I believe they will say 'sorry'.
