I don't see any difficulty answering the question. If you are the legally recognized father of the child, you have the same rights as the mother. That does not mean, however, that you will win in a custody fight. When custody is disputed, and the parents cannot work out an agreement, the court must decide what custody arrangement will be in the best interests of the child, not the parents interests or what they want. So your rights are to follow the rules and instructions of the court regarding pre-hearing process, such as attending Family Court Services mediation, and to appear in court with or without an attorney and make your case for what you think is in the best interests of the child.
