Legal Question in Family Law in California

Respected lawyers,

I am from india and i went to california USA on dependent visa.My hubby stopped financially supporting me and has moved out of the house.As i went to US on dependent visa and i have no source of income can i filed for maintenance under DVA without filing divorce in california so that i can bear my expenses?

Under the DVA if you file a restraining order you can request spousal support however that is only for married couples. You must be married to the individual to receive spousal support and it is temporary, i believe it is dependent on you seeking a divorce in the future.

For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.
