Legal Question in Family Law in California

Stepchildren state they are being physically abused by Mom. Took the children to the police department. DCFS came out and interviewed. A detective with Crimes Against Children then took over the case and states it will be sent to the DA for filing. But she says there's nothing we can do to prevent kids from going back to Mother! Anything we can do?! Thank you!

Usually in situations such as this CPS take the children and place them into custody. Generally if CPS does not action, there is little your can do.
