Legal Question in Family Law in California
I understand that the only way I could respond to a no-fault divorce is to get spousal support. My husband refuses to make any contact with me whatsoever, so I am thinking that I would go ahead with asking for the spousal support but I am willing to give up on that if he could just communicate with me first, on his own time. Is that possible?

Your husband has requirement to keep contact with you after the divorce process. However you will need to communicate for the purpose of sorting out the financial rights you each have. You should protect your interests by requresting spousal support if that is something that you truly need. You may or may not receive it depending on what the court believes. that could be a bargaining chip you have with your husband so that you can achieve other goals in this divorce litigation.
For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.
As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
