Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Slander

My religion allows men to marry more than one.

I met this guy and was contemplating, then changed my mind.

Then he tried to pursue it and re-connect for a while, but in the end he told his wife that I was chasing him.

Since she has been calling my work phone, my cell and friends with insults and defaming accusations. She is also making a lot of threats.

Can I file a lawsuit for slander and get a restraining order?

Re: Slander

Your religion may allow it, but it is a crime in California. I don't suggest you get the civil courts involved in your dispute, other than to seek a restraining order against the threats. You could also file police reports and criminal charges on the 'threats' if you have evidence.
