Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I have actuallty been told by a superior at my work, that the owners of the business believe that I am in a romantic if not physical relationship with a fellow coworker which is not true even after we both have been questioned off the record. I have also been told by this same person that I am especially monitored as a result and held to an almost impossible higher standard then my other coworkers. My fear is that I may be terminated for reasons that would be unwarranted if not silly simply to get me out of there. Is this fair?

Hi, Contact human resources immediately and thoroughly document all of this in writing in a private journal or notebook with dates, times, names, places for possible use in court. Please, excuse typos and other errors as typing is not my strong suit. Good luck!
"Fair" is irrelevant. Employers are entitled to set and change hours, duties, titles, compensation, benefits, supervision, etc. In general, unless you are in a union or have a written employment contract, you are an 'at will' employee that can be disciplined or fired any time for any reason, or no reason, other than for illegal discrimination under the Civil Rights, or Whistle-blower, or similar statutes. Employer suspicion that you are violating policies, or causing a problem, or could, is more than sufficient to terminate. Your goal should be to keep your employer happy with you.
