Legal Question in Employment Law in California
My boss fired me because I was sick.
My boss was working me 13 hours a day 6-7 days a week. I became run-down and I had to go to the hospital because of a throat infection. They fired me because they wanted me in the office 7 days a week from 9 in the morning to 9 at night. Is there anything that I can do?

You may have a comp claim, depending upon what your doctors say. You sure have a wage claim if not paid for all all the overtime. You may also have a wrongful termination and leave violation claim worth pursuing. Feel free to contacat me to discuss the facts.

You may have a lawsuit against them. There are various laws that protect you -- the California Family Rights Act (California's family medical leave law) Section 132A of the CA Labor Code -- which prohibits retaliation against employees who suffer injuries at work; as well as various other parts of the Labor Code. You might not have been paid properly either. Feel free to contact me by phone (415 ) 5225200, or private email below. Good luck.

It is not clear to me whether your infection was work-related or not. If it was you may have a worker's compensation case and you are entitled to a penalty under labor code 132 (a) for your termination while you were on a job-related disability. Call us at 213.388.7070 for a free consultation.
