Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I am currently employed at a privately owned company and am considering leaving for other employment. I have accrued 13 days of vacation. This amount shows on my most recent pay stub. If I leave, is the company legally required to pay me out for my unused vacation? Or is it at their discretion? Is the fact that the company is privately owned (it is an LLC) of any relevance? Thank you for your assistance.

Read the company policy manual. That determines whether accrued is payable or not. You could always file a claim for unpaid compensation with the Labor Commissioner to try to collect.
