Can an employer require employee to sign time card in order to pay. Can employer withhold pay until time card is signed?

An employer can require employees to sign time cards, to verify the accuracy of time worked, assuming the time card is correct. This may be required for accounting purposes or to assure you are being paid properly. An employer may also disciple an employee who refuses to comply with a reasonable request.

However, an employer may not refuse to pay an employee until they sign their time card. That would be against the law.

Bottom line: If you refuse to sign the card, you still must be paid. But you may find yourself without a job, as well.
