Fired for being bisexual, then assaulted by the general manager in May 2008
I was fired June 2007 from a local business. I was a week away from having life changing surgery at U.C.L.A medical center to repair a birth defect. When my boss overheard me on the phone with the Dr.'s office saying Blue Cross wants one more C.T. scan everything changed. Knowing I have high blood pressure they started slamming a metal door behind my desk, put my job in the local paper and made me field calls and hand out applications for my position from applicants. I was terrified that I would lose my medical insurance. I asked my boss if my job was safe and he told yes.(Why was it in the paper?)
They stared buying breakfast for everyone except me, interviewing applicants for my job...and then it turns out the G.M.'s brother knew the only guy I ever had a bisexual experience with and had him show up at my desk and I quickly ushered him out. I think they thought I would be so ashamed I would quit. The next day I told my boss I was going to go to the doctor because my blood pressure was so high I was having nosebleeds and let it be known I wasn't quitting.
The next day fired me for 'bringing in too much business' to the shop'
The G.M. and two thugs ripped me out of my home last May and nearly killed me, they have since pled

Well, if you can show that you were subjected to a 'sexually hostile environment' and discrimination because of a perceived sexual status, then you could pursue such claim within a year. Sounds like you're about a year late for that suit. However, you could sue the perps of the 2008 assault, or could have sought restitution in their criminal case. The decision to sue would require they have personal assets and income to collect against. If they have nothing, that is what you'd collect after all your efforts and expense.
