Legal Question in Employment Law in California

labor union

i am in a union with collective bargaining agreement. in it it says; ''The employer shall recognize the seniority of employees, skill and ability being equal. The distribution of work must show preference to senior employees.''

I have 8 years and am a certified jourmeyman, and every day members with less seniority get hired and i don't.

i brought this up at a meeting and was told that that is not how it happens.

as a member in good standing, do i have a leg to stand on? what should i do? can you refer me to a lawyer who represents the employee-member in a union with CBA here in southern california?

thank-you
