Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I got schedule to do my FAFSA test for college today and I called work 4 hours before my shift to let them know what was going on they told me to call the employees who were off to see who could cover my shift. But no one was available so I called work and they said that I was going to get a warning on my next day off work... is that legal?

Legal?? Of course.
Not only are there no laws against 'unfair treatment' or poor management, but in general, unless an employee is civil service, in a union, or has a written employment contract, they are an 'at will' employee that can be disciplined or fired any time for any reason, with or without cause, explanation or notice. You can be fired for missing work, with or without 'excuse' or reason. The employee's goal should be to keep the employer happy and make the company money. Thats how they pay employee wages.
