Legal Question in Employment Law in California
unfair discharge from employment/ and unpaid wages earned
i applied for a job with a company and i explained at the beginning that i would not be able to work certain days due to parenting classes i attend that are court ordered, they told me it wouldnt be a problem that they would work around my classes. they hired me. everyday when i got there they would tell me where and what to do i would say do i need to clock in they would say dont worry about it they would take care of it to go ahead and go do this or that. after working there three weeks they told me they couldnt work around my classes and let me go. i have asked for my paycheck, three weeks ive gotton the run around. they just told me thast because i didnt use some log for my hours that there not sure about how many hours i worked and they refuse to pay me. that was the first i heard about a log. i feel i was terminated unfairly, and now am not getting paid for the hours i worked when i started and was in training, how unfair is that, i was honest, hardworking, and did what i was told, can you please tell me what i should do , what my rights are

Recreate your time if you haven't kept track, and file a complaint with EDD (labor board). Penalties also attach for withholding wages.

Unless you had an employment contract with the employer there is no wrongful termination claim. However, for the unpaid wages you need to (or get an attorney) to file a claim with the DLSE. You will be able to recover for the amount owed to you, interest and penalties.

File a claim for unpaid compensation with the Labor Commissioner.
