Legal Question in Employment Law in California

At work one of the drawers came out short $120.00. This drawer was assigned to the manager on duty. The manager said that because all (6) the employees used this drawer we were all responsible for the shortage.She asked each of us to pay 20 each to make up for the money. Is this legal?

NO, it certainly is not allowable. An employee may be held liable for losses only if misconduct or criminal conduct can be shown, not merely negligence, and certainly not where multiple people could have done it.
