Re: working weekends

There are many laws which speak to overtime and weekend pay. However, they are different depending on what you do (what your job is) and what hours you work. I would need to speak to you and learn more about your situation to answer your question better. Please contact me at my e-mail or telephone number.

Sincerely, Beth Mora

In California, you must receive overtime for all hours worked over 8 in one week, 40 in one week or on the 7th consecutive day of a workweek.

There are several exceptions to this rule that come into play depending on what your job duties are. I can tell you whether you should be receiving overtime by your job duties, but I would need to know more about them first.

Re: working weekends

That's easy. There are some minor details, but in general if you're not salaried, you are entitled to overtime for anything over 8 hours per day on a five day week, and for weekends after 40 hours straight time. If you're not getting paid that 1 1/2 times pay for overtime, file a claim with the Labor Commissioner. If the amount due you is substantial, you should hire an attorney to make sure the case is handled right. If you are not the only employee being shorted, your all should hire the same attorney. Feel free to contact me if interested in doing this right.
