Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Bed Bugs

We have bed bugs. Our landlord sent an exterminator, who gave him an estimate, and he wouldn't pay it. Since then, the bugs have spread to the rest of the house. We are moving out now, because of this and other reasons, and we are afraid he will try to charge us for the cost of extermination. Additionally, much of our furniture needs to be treated, or disposed of, before we can move it. Everybody I have called can tell me little more than other phone numbers to call. Do we have to pay for this?

Re: Bed Bugs

Landlords are not typically responsible for bedbugs or other items transported by humans or pets.
