Landlord death

I rent a house and my landlord just died. My rental contract was with him. Is my contract still valid? Is an heir responsible for refunding my deposits when I move?

Yes, the successor takes interest in the property subject to your agreement. You might write a letter of condolence to the successor, and also remind him/her of the money on deposit, just to keep things straight.
