'filing a claim' means filing a lawsuit within one year. Unless you are competent to do so, and then effectively conduct all the court pleadings, motions, hearings and trial, all while being opposed by experienced defense counsel, you hire an attorney. You must have an opinion from a doctor that agrees there was malpractice before you can even file the lawsuit, and must have a doctor prepared to so testify in the case. Feel free to contact me to discuss your facts and evidence and medical opinion that you believe would justify such case.

Re: malpractice / wrongful death action

If you or a loved one has already been the victim of medical malpractice, don't make the situation any worse by becoming a victim of legal malpractice (yours, committed against yourself).

Filing a major claim or lawsuit is too difficult to attempt on your own, you will only get one shot at it, and if you attempt it yourself you will most certainly lose. Most attorneys will take good cases on a contingency fee basis (no attorney fees unless you win). If the case is anywhere near the statute of limitations you have already waited way too long. So why wouldn't you make an appointment to consult me, or some other attorney, in person?
