Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
hit and run car accident
Almost a year ago my car was hit by a car that was later reported stolen. I had insurance and so did the other car. I have a good but unfinished police report. My current attorney doesn't seem to return my calls or update me. Can I switch attorneys at any time that will help me or is there no law to protect me? Is this a total loss for me and my car or can something be done. My car was totaled and I missed work for two weeks.

you may switch attorneys at any time for any reason, regardless of what the client-attorney agreement may say in writing. however, you may also be liable for the reasonable value of the services rendered by that attorney should you "jump ship" in mid case. so, you might want to be careful here and find out how much time this attorney has spent on your case before switching, especially if you do not want to end up paying hourly fees to this attorney per se. if you would like further assistance, email me with additional case facts, the extent of your personal and/or property injuries, as well as how long this attorney has been representing you and how long your case's progress is to date.

You can always switch attorney but previous attorney will keep a lien on your case.

You have only a year to bring suit or loss your rights. If your attorney is not acting, you'd better get someone else to protect your rights by filing suit before the year is up. Contact me if interested.
