Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

I received a Violation Code 21461(a). I made a left, crossing a double yellow line into a driveway infront of a school. I made sure there wasn't any cars coming before i backed out of the drive way. The police officer said I made a U turn. I don't think this is considered a U turn. Also, after I backed out a car drove in to the same driveway. But I got the ticket. On the ticket it reads: no left/U turn. Could I fight this? Will this affect my record since I did get a speeding ticket the begining of last year?

Fight the ticket, or pay it, your choice/ You have nothing to lose except the time to do so. Any conviction will go on your record, and count as points against you.
