Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
unauthorized video
Do I have any legal recourse regarding a video of me obtained by a Private Investigator? Can I ensure that the video is not given to any outside party or diseminated further than the individual who hired the Private Investigator?

Re: unauthorized video
If the video amounts to an invasion of your privacy, you could sue and seek a restraning order if needed, if they don't agree to do as you ask. Contact me if interested in doing so.
Re: unauthorized video
If the video was taped in a location where you do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy such as in a public place, then the video can be used and/or distributed for a limited number of purposes, such as law suits!! This is called Sub Rosa videotape. (behind the bush)
However, said tape cannot be used for a commercial purpose without your consent, nor can it be used if it was filmed in such a way as to be an invasion of your right of privacy.
I would be happy to give you a consultation in this matter. 818-427-6246.
