I am going to file a sexual harassment claim against my employer. Do I need a lawyer to begin the complaint process?

It is not required but it is adviseable, to make sure that the complaint is worded sufficiently.

After you get the right sue notice, you need to file the lawsuit within one year. You do not need an attorney when you are filing the complaint with DFEHA or EEOC.

It's not mandatory, but if you screw up the complaint filing by failing to properly describe and identify the violations, you can adversely affect and limit your potential lawsuit. You should already have hired your attorney before the DFEH/EEOC filing. You surely aren't going to try to sue 'pro per' and go up against professional defense attorneys in court, so get an attorney now, and let him do it right. If you haven't found an attorney willing to take your case, is it because they don't think is valid or valuable?
