Legal Question in Traffic Law in California
traffic law
Can a witness to a traffic accident be paid to testify, someone answered this question as follows ''No , your lawyer will suponea a witness.'' I realize a lawyer CAN SUPONEA A WITNESS. My question was '' Can a witness legally be paid to testify?'' That would be a yes or no question .... Yes it is legal , or No , it is not legal. Thank You in advance.

Re: traffic law
Aside from the fact that bribing a witness (other than paying the statutory witness fees, about $35, and mileage) is against the law, why would you want to?
The first question from the lawyer on the other side would be, "Mr. Witness, isn't it true that you are being paid for your testimony today?"
