Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Colorado
I tired to rent a car from Enterprise. My credit card was max out by their $250 requirement because I had just paid $500 on my account the night before and it would not clear until midnight that night. I wanted to use my debit card which I received from a US bank in Colorado; I had more then enough to pay the deposit in my checking account. They refused to use my debit card because my drivers license is from Ohio. I have moved from Ohio and planed to wait until my license expired to get a Colorado license. They told me that they have a strict company policy against using debit cards from person's holding license from other states. Is this company policy unconstitutional?
1 Answer from Attorneys
No. The Constitution limits what the government can do. It generally does not limit what private entities, including large companies like Enterprise, can do.
There may be a law, statute or regulation which this company policy violates, but I don't know of any offhand.
