Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in Colorado

I have a friend who got arrested on a minor possession charge when she was 14,her parent was not available when it came to being time for her court date. She tried to go,but was told that they could do nothing for her without a parent present. So she wound up getting a failure to appear charge.Well she thought that they had been dropped, then 4 years later when she had turned 18,she wound up being arrested on this warrant. My question is:How can she be charged, when she turned into an adult, for something a parent should have been responsible for when she was a minor?

The parent is not responsible for your friend either consuming or possessing alcohol when your friend was undser 18. Your friend should have told the Judge that the parent is refusing to come to Court and for the Judge to issue an order for the parent to appear.

The warrant is for the failure of your friend to get his or her parent to come to court and it would appear that your friend failed to make a good record in Court that he or she actually appeared in Court.

Your friend was charged while he or she was a minor and now will face the charges as a minor although he or she is an adult.

Your friend should hire an experienced criminal defense lawyer like us to help him or her.
