Non Compete Agreement

I just left a position for a computer reseller in Connecticut. I signed a non-compete agreement and just got a job with another computer reseller out of Florida (but they have a very small office in CT - but, I am working out of my home). I did not take any lists with me before I left, but I have started calling on my customers from the previous reseller. All of my customers phone numbers are located on the web, so their names are not proprietary. Can that previous reseller sue me since I am technically working for another reseller out of Florida (although working in CT) and since I am calling on my old customers even though they are not proprietary? Since we are all selling the same product, I figured it would be OK. I am confused as to what I should do, should I get out of the reseller business or if I stay, can the old company take me for everything I have?

It depends on what your non-compete agreement says and the circumstances of your departure. I would need more information to give you any substantive thoughts.

Whether the customer list is proprietary, and what diffrence that makes, are separate issues.
