Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Connecticut

I signed a contract for my wedding venue that is 6 Months and 5 days away. The contract states if I cancel within 8 months I owe 50%. I have already forfeited my deposit but due to financial issues and my father's health we cannot afford the wedding costs so we decided to cancel. Can I get out of this legally?

Why don't you call and talk to the person in charge. Usually these places want your business and may work something out with you.
