Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Hello. I had a pre-trial yesterday of a case against me for a past credit card debt. My lawyer either forgot or purposely did not show and it therefore went into a default judgement. Social Security Disability is my only source of income and I own no property. Am i protected from garnishments when/if they try and enforce judgment? Thank you.

Yes, but you must claim the exemption in court when the garnishment is served.

If your only income is social security you need to make that known to the opposing party. Unfortunately, if they received a judgment against you, I suggest you file for a Motion to Set Aside the Judgment - and request that you be allowed an opportunity to have an attorney present. You should contact your attorney and have them take care of this immediately.
