Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

divorce

My wife wants a divorce. She owed a townhome (Chgo. Il.) with her sister before marriage. Year later her sister moved and I moved in and we got married. 3 yrs later, she wanted to moved where her sister moved to (Florida) and she sold the house. (She is from Colombia and she became legal due to our marriage I should add). She gave 1/2 the profit to her sister which left us 18k. I gave up everything to move to Florida and can't survive here and she won't leave and wants a divorce now. Am I entitled to 1/2 that money? Please help! I have nothing now and need help.

Re: divorce

You are not entitled to half of the money, but you may be entitled to a portion of it. You may be entitled to one-fourth of the increase in the equity in the townhouse for the time you were married, which probably isn't much.

You should speak to a family lawyer, who can analyze the entire situation.
